Wearing, perhaps, too many hats has prevented me from posting here for a while, but the November 6, 2012 elections have me all riled up! This is definitely a rant! If it doesn't read quite correhently, perhaps I'll fix it later when I'm less annoyed...
It so strikes me how Republicans are still, or in some cases, once again sucking up to Congressman Todd Akin despite distancing themselves from him for a short few days after he made that disparaging remark against women. In case the name sounds familar but you cannot remember exactly why, Todd Akin is the Republican congressman who suggested that women's bodies automaticaly avoid pregnancy when they're raped... His words were, "It seems to be, first of all, from what I understand from doctors, it’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut the whole thing down.” Akin made these remarks during an interview with KTVI.
To recap, what happened after Akin made that statement was that Senator Claire McCaskill
released a statement criticizing what he'd said. So then, Akin also released a statement in which he said he had misspoke during the interview in which he initially made those remarks. To be sure, Akin said he would not exit the Missouri Senate race against McCaskill even after Mitt Romney and other Republicans denounced Akin's words.
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama comes forward and says that Akin's remarks are a testiment to why politicians should not be trying to make health care decisions for women. With that, the President noted that rape is rape and should not require any type of qualifying or parsing to make it so.
After other Republican leaders, including Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown, came forward with pushes for Akin to leave the race and let someone else run in his shoes, the Congressman still refused to quit. I suppose you can say the clencher was when the Republican superPAC, American Crossroads, threatened to pull advertising aimed to help Akin win his election. But still, Akin firmly held his position even during a broadcast interview with Sean Hannity when Hannity tried to get Akin to quit for the good of the Republican Party. [Yeah... Good of the Republican Party! What a crock!!] and moving on, despite Mitt Romney's denouncing Congressman with even harsher words when he appeared in a TV interview with Paul Ryan, Akin still had no intentions of quitting.
So what happens...??
A few days later, the deadline for Todd Akin to exit the race so that someone else could take the ball and run with it expired... This meant that Akin would run for the Missouri Senate seat or no Republican candidate would do so.
Then... The Republican Party realizes that they HAD BETTER help Akin out if they expected to prevent his run from impacting the top of the ticket... namely, Mitt Romney...!!
So you see, as always, no matter what happens, the Republican Party finds a way to fall in line...
They have no qualms with saying one thing and doing another...
All they care about is winning... !!
Taking control...!!
Gaining power...!! and of course......
Helping their special interest groups...!!!
Now let's get to President Obama's loss to Mitt Romney during the first 2012 presidential debate...
First off... I must pre-empt by saying that for me personally, a winning candidate is NOT one who gets on the stage and lets loose scores of lies and misrepresentations! I don't care how aggressive or docile the candidate appears. What matters to me is what they have to say and whether or not I find them to be honest and forthcoming...
Now... It is well understood by those who follow politics that what happens on the campaign trail is not necessarily what goes on during a debate. Whereas campaign trail events may consist of a few hundred people in attendance at any given rally, debates are televised and take place in front of millions of viewers all at the same time!! Well, those who watched the first debate between Obama and Romney might have thought Romney had gotten the memo disclosing these facts but Obama had not received it!!
So what happened after that...??
It seemed like all hell broke loose!
Well... Actually... Hell probably began unravelling during the debate as Americans watched and waited for President Obama to begin dispelling Mitt Romney's lies and misleading remarks... The problem was that the President did not do so... The world watched as Romney battered Obama as if he was putting a child in his place... and in fact... Romney even made a reference to having five boys and listening to them repeating lies in hopes that he would eventually believe what they were saying... The irony here, of course, is the fact that Romney, not Obama, was the candidate standing before the American people, repeteadely dishing out lies! It mattered not, however, since the vast majority of viewers, who do not keep up with day to day or even week to week political events, had no idea Romney was lying... This is so sad since they will not know that he was trying to get them to vote AGAINST their OWN INTERESTS!!
Anywho... The media added to the frustrations voters underwent from watching Obama take hits but not strike back... Americans got upset... frustrated... depressed... and you name it! But I am here to say that no matter HOW WE FEEL... We need to TOSS OUR FEELING ASIDE and CAST OUR VOTES FOR BARACK OBAMA!!
Check out how the Republican Party is once again endorsing Todd Akin after he said those
dispicable things about women and rape. Besides... If you will... These are not even the only autrocius things Akin has said! He has also said things like "Anybody who knows something about the history of the human race knows that there is no civilization which has condoned homosexual marriage widely and openly that has long survived;" and "I think NBC has a long record of being very liberal and at the heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God and a belief that government should replace God."
Seriously!! This is the way Congressman Todd Akin thinks!
Now let's put things in perspective... If Republicans can continue to support Todd Akin in order to win at all costs... Why wouldn't Barack Obama supporters do the same... continue to support Barack Obama...?? I mean... After all... President Obama has the NATION'S INTEREST AT HEART... but Todd Akin AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY are ONLY INTERESTED in THE RICH and THEIR CRONIES!! SPECIALIST INTERESTS!! TAKING AWAY PEOPLE'S RIGHTS!!! CUTTING MEDICARE!! CUTING MEDICAID!! DESTROYING SOCIAL SECURITY!!!
So if you're mad... or angry... or upset... or whatevah! Put your gloves on and get out there to help the President the way he has been striving with diligence to help you!
Okay... So he had a bad debate!! Well... No one is perfect! So... Get over it!! Because... We ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!! And... If we don't fight those Republicans... We are going to be SORRY!
As you read and think about this post...
Think about losing the Health Care the President has given you and your family...
Think about losing the rebate check your insurance must send you every single year if they do not spend your premimums on actually caring for you...
Think about what will happen with your Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid... Or to these same benefits that your friends and loved ones currently depend on...
Think about poor and disadvantaged school children losing meals that help them get through the day and prevent hunger pangs from hampering their learning...
Think about women's rights... Your sister... Your aunt... Your female friend... YOUR MOTHER!!
This is only a SMALL SLITHER of rights and programs the Republican Party aims to take away from the American People!!! Voting them into office will help you to help them to hurt you... Does that make sense???? Well... NOT VOTING AT ALL WOULD BE JUST AS BAD!!! So GET OUT THERE and VOTE the FULL DEMOCRATIC TICKET!!!
Oh... and by the way... You also need to vote in order to keep your right to vote... The Republicans want to TAKE THAT AWAY TOO!!!
Blog about ranting when you are fed up or simply very annoyed. Write about it here to let off a bit of steam instead of pulling out your (or someone else's) hair!
A place to rant when 140 Twitter characters are far too sufficient!
Ranting on Twitter has its use but sometimes you need more typing space...
WELCOME...
We all need to get stuff off our chests now and then and sometimes writing problems down can be just as helpful as yelling them out!
Thus... I created this blog for any and everyone who simply wants to get over a minor annoyance or tell why they are mad as heck!

Government Subsidies
Yeah... So I'm thinking... Why should large corporations get so many government subsidies, lay off their workers, and take big bonuses while small businesses work hard to make a profit, hire and reasonably pay as many employees as they can afford, and create jobs in the United States without subsidies? HUH! HUH! HUH!! Well... my small business could use a subsidy! Entrepreneurs... How bout yours!?
